In summer, there are outbreaks of red eye (viral conjunctivitis). It is important to identify and control it in order to prevent the spread of the virus amongst children and older people. It most often spreads in schools and in families.
A patient came to see this week, who had a painful scratch and a small haemorrhage on the front white of the eye. Her optician could not find anything amiss but advised her to have an ophthalmology examination within a few days.
