Oculoplastics is the medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the eyes and surrounding areas, and includes eye lifts, cheek/lower eyelid volumisation, tear trough filler (TearFill) and skin care. It also includes the management of sun damage and of skin tumours on and around the eyelids. She does delicate reconstructive surgery of eyelids after tumour excision.
Eyelid surgery, sometimes called ophthalmic plastic or orbito-facial surgery and is done for both medical and aesthetic reasons. She specialises in eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty) for hooded eyelids, baggy eyelids and drooping eyelids (ptosis surgery). Oculoplastic surgeons are fully trained ophthalmologists who have sub-specialised in oculoplastic surgery. They therefore have an in depth knowledge of the eyes and eyelids, in particular the anatomy and function, therefore are ideally suited to work around the eyes. Jane Olver is an eye surgeon who co-founded the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) and was the founder secretary for five years.
