NEW President at ISD-DE

New President at the International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye ISD-DE

International Society of Dacryology and Dry Eye ISD-DE has confirmed Miss Jane Olver Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Oculoplastic (Eyelid) & Lacrimal Specialist and medical director of Clinica London as the society’s new president.

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to preside over such a prestigious society in the medical field.

Watering and dry eyes have always been of such a huge interest to me and at Clinica London I find that 60% of my work is medical to do with wet and dry eyes whilst 40% is surgical to do with eyelid and tear duct. So, my involvement in the ISD-DE is in absolute harmony with my private practice.”

The International society of Dacryology dates back to 1982 after ophthalmologist Professor Juan Murube de Castilla of Madrid laid the basis for it in his 1981 book with a 12-page constitution.

As president of the society Miss Olver is expected to work with the committee to update the constitution which is still in the form of 1982.

The focus of the society however, will remain unchanged involving ocular surface health, tear constituents and quantity, eyelid function, and lacrimal drainage function. The society holds meetings globally on a three-year rotation basis with the first ever meeting held in the USA in 1984. Since then, the society has held meetings in Spain, Canada, Hungry, Netherlands, Jerusalem, Sweden and last week in Singapore.
