Information about Ultherapy: What’s important to know?
Patients often ask me, or ask the Clinica London nurses, for information about Ultherapy. Especially, what effect Ultherapy has on their skin and what it can do for them.
Ultherapy is an ultrasound system that causes tightening and lifting. It does it around the jowls, upper neck, face and around the eyes. Ultherapy uses micro-thermocoagulation to tighten and lift the skin. Particularly around the lower face and also around the eyes. It can be used on the neck and the décolletage as well.
Patients main concern is whether Ultherapy is going to make their skin look red, or make their skin sore. I reassure them that Ultherapy does not work on the surface where it could cause a burn like redness. But it goes much deeper, 4.5 mm, 3 mm and 1.5 mm, and so does not damage the superficial skin.
The 1.5 mm does help treat superficial loss of tone in the skin. Particularly around the mouth area and around the eyes, which we specialise in at Clinica London.
The 3.0 mm and the 4.5 mm treatment transducers work much deeper, for where it is the deeper structure which is the main tightening area.
In my next blog I will talk about whether Ultherapy is uncomfortable or not.
