Reintroducing Mr Jaheed Khan, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Medical retina specialist and cataract surgeon
I would like to tell you a little bit about Jaheed Khan. Mr Jaheed Khan is one of the Consultant Ophthalmologists at Clinica London. He is an NHS consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, and he specialises in cataract surgery, general ophthalmology for general eye problems and has a medical retina subspecialty.
What do Jaheed Khan’s patients say about him?
His patients really like him. The feedback that I get as a Medical Director of Clinica London is that he is gentle, very patient, and a good listener. He is very sensible. By sensible, I mean that he is very practical. He will not try and make somebody have any unnecessary treatment that carries a higher risk than he feels that is necessary, or indeed have any treatment that he thinks is not in the best interest of his patient. So, he is very pragmatic. He understands the patient sitting in front of him. He is not trying to be a big know-it–all, offering the latest dancing, flashing brightly-lit treatment, but he offers very good sound and wise advice. He is a superb clinician, an excellent cataract surgeon and provides a very good medical retinal opinion for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and branch vein occlusion.
Mr Jaheed Khan communicates well with his patients. He talks with them in a way that they can understand and explains what the treatment plan is going to be. He understands them and their families and is always willing to have a chat with them on the phone, either before or after the consultation if they have any queries. He will go out of his way to help his patients. He is always there for them and loyal to them.
An old-fashioned doctor with modern approaches
In some respect what I am describing sounds very much like an old fashioned type of doctor. But Jaheed is in no way old or old fashioned. He is fully up to date with all the latest sound proven ophthalmic treatments and techniques for cataract surgery and age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and general ophthalmology. He is a Moorfields Hospital eye consultant and deservedly so. He is also a Clinica London private practitioner, and we are absolutely delighted to have him with us.
He still has to attend a lot of NHS clinics and do his NHS cataract lists, as well as his NHS medical retina subspeciality. Therefore we only have Mr Khan at Clinica London every Monday morning. We would like, in time, for him to do more work with us at Clinica London as and when he can reduce his commitment to the NHS, but as we all know the NHS is desperately requiring consultants. However, our private patients at Clinica London are still able to benefit from his skills.
He is fee assured with all the private medical insurance companies, and he has set package prices for his private self-paying patients, all of which can be found out from Jenny Burrows, the Clinica London Co-ordinator. Jaheed Khan will see patients at short notice. In addition to his cataracts and retinal medical patients, he sees patients with chalazia, inflamed eyes, dry eyes and visual disturbances.
