How Botulinum toxin can help to prevent scars

There is now a lot of evidence to show that Botulinum toxin may help to prevent scars from forming. Potentially, this treatment can produce a better outcome for patients after eyelid surgery or if they have suffered trauma. In both situations, the patient is likely to suffer from scarring, but research has shown that Botulinum toxin can have a prophylactic role in the prevention of scars.

Don’t look so surprised – we can give you a non-surgical eyebrow lift that will look great

You don’t need to undergo cosmetic surgery to give your eyebrows a bit of a lift. We can achieve an excellent, natural look for you here at Clinica London simply by using Botulinum toxin A, or Botox. We don’t recommend surgery for a brow lift as the results can be short lived and the procedure can have negative side-effects. Read on to find out how the different muscles in your forehead affect both the drooping and raising of your eyebrows and the process involved in administering the treatment. Miss Jane Olver is highly experienced in performing such procedures, doing many hundreds of Botox anti-wrinkle treatments each year.

Customers flock to our clinic to get their crow’s feet fixed

If you think that it’s only women who worry about their lines and wrinkles, you would be mistaken. You would be surprised at the number of men who come to our clinic wanting their facial lines smoothed out and plumped up - especially their crow’s feet. These are the wrinkles that form at the outer edges of our eyes, which are also known as laughter lines. It’s often the case that laughter lines can look attractive but when they become very deep they can age us. We may no longer feel like spring chickens, but we don’t want crow’s feet to make us look old before our time either. If you have pronounced laughter lines, we can plump them out with Botox and restore the twinkle in your eye without the wrinkles.

Down with the frown – banish the vertical forehead lines that make you look grumpy

If you’re in your thirties, one of the first things you may notice is your glabellar lines, also known as the frown lines, which can make you look perplexed, and even grumpy. We can treat frown lines at Clinica London with Botox. First, you’ll come in for an assessment consultation, where we’ll ask you to look really cross so that we can assess the strength of your forehead muscles. (Easy, just think of that commuter who stepped on your toes on the train this morning). We’ll also assess whether there are any other signs of early ageing that you might wish to correct, such as small blood vessels, for example, that will need treating to stop them from getting worse. We’ll also use a little Botox on the upper eyebrow to achieve the best result - but don’t worry, you won’t emerge looking like Mr Spock! You’ll just have a smoother, fresher, more youthful look that we’re sure you’ll love.

What does the orthoptist do for adult patients? Part 1

The orthoptist can help adults suffering from conditions such as a squint. Most commonly such adults will have had surgery to correct this problem in childhood, but over time the condition can return. The orthoptist can also help adult patients suffering from thyroid eye disease, causing double vision, and people who have sustained eye injuries as a result of accidents, who may also be suffering from double vision.

When should you get a general eye check up? – Part 1

Any patient over the age of 55 should have an eye check up ever one to three years, even if they have no symptoms of visual problems. Once you are over 65, you should have a general eye check up every one to two years. However, you should have your eyes checked more often if you have a family history of eye disease.
