Ms Naz Raoof trained as a doctor at the University of Oxford, qualifying in 2004. Following her training, the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (Sheffield) and the University of Sheffield employed her as a junior doctor in Ophthalmology. There she taught students about the anatomy and physiology of the head and neck, with special emphasis on the eye and vision. In 2007, she was appointed to Ophthalmic Specialist Training in Sheffield.

Ms Raoof has undertaken two post-training specialist Fellowships in paediatrics, strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology, including 12 months at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and in Auckland, New Zealand, before becoming a Consultant.

In October 2014, Ms Raoof met with the Director for Consumer Affairs in the European Commission to discuss the threats to children’s vision posed by hand-held lasers purchased via online traders, and to look at ways of preventing further injuries through EU legislation.

Ms Raoof’s serves the NHS in her capacity as consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Royal London Hospital.

  • The Ivor Levy Prize was awarded at the Royal College of Ophthalmology Annual Congress in 2013 for the best poster on a neuro- ophthalmology topic;
  • The Ian Fraser Cup was awarded by the Oxford Ophthalmological Congress in 2014 for the best poster on a clinical topic;
  • The Yorkshire Retinal Society in 2014 awarded a Prize for the best Free Paper Presentation at their 10th Anniversary Meeting.
  • Honorary Clinical Senior Teaching Fellow at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and lead for Paediatrics, Strabismus and Neuro-ophthalmology on the Ophthalmology MSc course
