Mr Khan is a highly experienced and approachable Consultant Eye Surgeon who does over 600 cataract surgeries a year and treats many patients with age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal conditions.
He has substantial experience of operating on elderly patients who have both cataracts and age related macular degeneration. He is both a conscientious listener and communicates clearly to the older patient the proposed treatment and surgery.
Mr Khan is renowned for his teaching excellence in eye cataract surgery and is a clinical supervisor for the London School of Ophthalmology with particular interests in developing teaching programmes for optometrists and nurses.

Qualifications
Mr Jaheed Khan graduated from the Royal Free Hospital and University College London Medical School where he received a first-class distinction for his Bachelor of Science degree in Neurosciences in 1993 and Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees in 1997.
He completed primary ophthalmic training at St Thomas’ Hospital (2000-2003) and in 2006 was awarded in a medical doctorate (MD) for his scientific research into “New treatments for diabetic maculopathy” at King’s College London.
After his MD, he completed higher ophthalmic training at Moorfields Eye Hospital (2007-2010) the Royal Free Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital, Imperial NHS Trust. He was then selected for advanced sub-speciality fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital (2011) where he developed expertise in cataract surgery and management of conditions affecting the retina which include diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.

The Clinical Service of the Year 2012′ awarded by the Macular Disease Society in recognition of clinical excellence 2012.
Clinical lead for anti-VEGF treatment programme for diabetic macular oedema at Moorfields at Bedford and Hinchingbrooke Hospital 2013.
‘The Moorfields Stars Patient Experience Committee’s Award’ for improving the patient experience 2013.

Treatments and Procedures
Mr. Khan specialises in general ophthalmology, cataract and intra-ocular lens surgery, including complex cataract surgery. He manages retinal conditions including flashes and floaters from posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), ageing and diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy, retinal vein and artery occlusions. He carries out treatments including intravitreal injections for diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema, retinal vascular occlusion and wet age-related macular degeneration. He does YAG laser of thickened posterior capsules after cataract surgery.
In addition he sees patients with general ophthalmic problems, including red eyes and blepharitis.
