Ms Naomi Tan is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon working both in Private Practice at Clinica London in Harley Street, and in the NHS where she holds a consultant appointment with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and is the Deputy Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology.

Alongside general ophthalmology for both children and adults, Naomi specialises in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus (including surgery) and adult cataract surgery.

She is a dedicated and experienced Paediatric Ophthalmologist and specialist in children´s strabismus (Squints). She works closely with the Orthoptists at Clinica London in the assessment of children´s vision and eye motility, cycloplegic refraction and their need for glasses, treatment of amblyopia (lazy eye), and all children´s eye problems.

She trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she completed her Fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Naomi has worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the Emergency Department, treating urgent and emergency eye problems. She surgically manages patients, adults and children, with eye trauma at the Royal Free Hospital, London.

Naomi is a fluent French speaker, having obtained the Diplôme approfoni de langue Française (DALF) in 2007.

TEACHING AND EDUCATION

Teaching ophthalmology to medical students and young ophthalmologists is an important part of Naomi´s professional profile. She is a caring and thoughtful teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS

Naomi´s qualifications are exemplary. Naomi trained as a doctor of medicine at the University of Manchester. In 2008 Naomi gained a First Class honours intercalated BSc degree in Healthcare Ethics and Law from the University of Manchester. She subsequently gained her medical degree in 2009.

Naomi studied the French language alongside medicine, gaining the DALF C2 advanced French language qualification. As such she is an enormous asset for our French families and their children living in in London. She also gained insights into other health systems by undertaking training placements in hospitals in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

Naomi undertook her medical Foundation Training years on a competitive Academic Programme based at the Royal Free London. She went on to obtain a sought after position in the North London Ophthalmology training programme. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists by examination in 2017.
