Ms Olver is the Founder and Medical Director of Clinica. She is an enthusiastic ophthalmologist caring for patients requiring oculoplastic (eyelid), dry eye and lacrimal (tear duct) surgery, and with general or urgent ophthalmic problems.
She has thirty years of clinical oculoplastic (eyelid surgery) experience and is highly skilled in delicate cosmetic and functional blepharoplasty and ptosis eyelid surgery. She carries out aesthetic injections and treats tear trough hollowing with hyaluronate gel and skin rejuvenation therapies with IPL and non-ablative laser.
Miss Olver also specialises in treating watery eyes with blocked tear ducts requiring tear duct surgery, or dry eyes with meibomian gland dysfunction requiring Optilight IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatment and chalazion surgery.
For 20 years in the NHS Miss Olver ran the Oculoplastic Service at Imperial College NHS Trust, while always remaining dedicated to general ophthalmic problems. She opened Clinica at 140 Harley Street in 2010 and became the full time Medical Director in 2014.
Miss Olver is passionate about Clinica. From its inception Clinica aimed to cater for all adult and children´s eye and skin problems. Clinica London provides exceptionally high quality and rapid access, private ophthalmology and dermatology by leading London Ophthalmic and Dermatology Consultants, in a spacious and calm clinic based in an elegant Harley Street house.
She created the Urgent Eye Care service at Clinica, whereby patients with acute and general eye problems can be seen urgently by an experienced Consultant Ophthalmic Specialist.
Miss Olver was co-founder of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) in 2000 and helped write its constitution and run its first meetings. She co-authored the BOPSS Ptosis Surgery Audit helping set national benchmark standards for ptosis eyelid surgery. She pioneered endoscopic
endonasal lacrimal surgery (endoDCR) for watering eyes in the UK, including running regular Lacrimal Surgery courses and writing the NICE report on dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) training for ophthalmic trainees.
She lectures internationally on eyelid surgery, aesthetic rejuvenation of the eyes and face, watering eyes and tear duct surgery.
She is the author of the highly acclaimed book “Colour Atlas of Lacrimal Surgery” and of “Ophthalmology at a Glance”, 1st and 2nd editions. She is the editor of the international multi-author book “The Medical and Surgical Management of Watering and Dry Eyes”, which will be published in 2024.
She is currently the president of the International Society of Dacryology (Science of the tear duct) and Dry Eyes and will organise the 14th International Congress on Watering and Dry Eyes in London in 2024, “The Year of the Tear”.
Ms Olver graduated from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in 1979 (MBBS, BSc). After her initial experience in Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology at the Brook General Hospital, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, St Thomas’s Hospital, Southampton Eye Hospital and University Hospital of Wales, she undertook training and research at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She gained the DO, FCOphth, FRCS, FRCOphth.
